Who we are

ABCD PTE is built and operated by ABCD AI, the team that also operates abcdielts.com. We are a small team, and the portal is our own work end to end — the screens, the question bank and the marking engine.

What ABCD PTE is

A practice portal for the PTE Academic English test, at abcdpte.com. It covers the twenty-two question types of the July-2025 exam format, and every screen runs in two modes: Practice, where you can stop, re-read the method and see the marking as it happens, and Exam, which is the real thing — same timing, same constraints, no hints and no guide.

Alongside the individual items there are full mock forms and a report for every attempt, and Olly, a guide who reads your reports and names the next task to work on. What each plan includes is on the pricing page; you do not need a card to start.

Everything you practise on is written by us. Published exam material is a format reference only — no question here is copied from it, and the portal is not a route to leaked or reproduced test content.

How the marking works

There is no single “AI score” behind the portal. Three different things mark your work, and which one runs depends on what can actually be judged:

• Deterministic rules. Most of the exam is checked against a key — multiple choice, the fill-in-the-blanks families, re-ordering, highlighting, dictation, word counts and form checks. These are arithmetic, not judgement, and they give the same answer every time.
• Speech analysis. Pronunciation and fluency on the spoken types are measured by SpeechAce, a speech-assessment vendor, from the audio you record.
• AI marking. The parts that need reading rather than matching — whether your summary carries the content of the text, whether an essay develops its argument, grammar and vocabulary — go to Anthropic’s Claude, against our own written criteria.

Every trait a score is built from is shown to you with the reason for it. Where a marker is unavailable or cannot judge something honestly, the portal withholds that score and says so. It never fills the gap with a guess — a number you cannot trust is worse than no number.

What an estimated score means

Scores here are reported the way the exam reports them: whole numbers on the 10–90 scale, an overall and one bar for each of the four skills. Mock scores are labelled Estimated and shown with a range, and that label is not modesty — it is the honest description of what a practice score is.

We do not guarantee that a score from this portal matches, or predicts, the score you will receive from Pearson. The exam is marked by their engine, under their conditions, on the day. What our score is good for is direction: which skill is behind, which trait costs you marks, and what to practise next.

What we will not claim

Test-prep marketing is full of numbers nobody can check. We have ruled three of them out of our own pages, permanently:

• No percentage of similarity to the real exam, and no margin-of-error figure for our scores. We have not measured either, so we do not publish either.
• No promise of a score increase. Nobody can honestly sell you points.
• No claim to be, to represent, or to be approved by the organisation that runs the test.

We are not the test owner

ABCD PTE is an independent practice platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Pearson, which owns the PTE Academic test and its associated trademarks.

So we cannot book, reschedule or cancel a real test, look up or change an official score, or send a score report to a university or an immigration authority. All of that goes to the test owner through their official channels. What we can do is help you practise, and fix anything wrong with the practice.

Your work and your data

Your written answers and your recordings are stored so they can be marked and so your reports keep working, and they are processed by the vendors named above. What we hold, how long we hold it, and how to get a copy of it or have it deleted are set out in full in the Privacy Policy.
